Current-style UK registrations use two letters, two numbers and three letters, as in AB12 CDE. Introduced in September 2001, this format creates a wide range of memorable combinations using initials, short names and meaningful numbers. Explore the current-style registrations listed by Reg Dealers and compare prices and combinations.
What do the two numbers mean?
The two middle digits act as an age identifier. A personalised current-style registration cannot be assigned to a vehicle if it would make that vehicle appear newer than its actual age.
What should I check before buying?
Choose a combination you like, then confirm the registration's current availability, the vehicle's DVLA eligibility and the full costs involved in purchase and assignment. A registration purchase and physical number plates are not necessarily the same product.
Compare other formats: Dateless, Prefix or Suffix. Read the UK number plate formats guide.
